Dangote Refinery Didn’t Give Us Any Discount, We Paid Them In USD For September 2024 PMS Offtake – NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has put out a statement as a result of the Dangote Refinery earlier press release to state it’s own side of the matter so that Nigerians can see for themselves where the issues really are. Dangote Refinery had earlier denied the among they sold the product to NNPC which they claimed is at 898 naira.

Between these two powerful entity and the Nigerian citizens, one would be tempted to ask the question, who is fooling who? Because the citizens are the ones at the receiving end of it all. In the statement released by NNPC, they made it clear that nobody can fix a price for Dangote Refinery as that is between them and their client’s discretion after they must have agreed.

Also, they showed how the price will be as it varies in different states of the federation.. both parties are trying to come clean but who should the people now believe. In a statement that reads:

NNPC Ltd Releases Estimated Pump Prices of PMS from Dangote Refinery, Based on September 2024 Pricing

The NNPC Ltd has released estimated prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as Petrol (obtained from the Dangote Refinery) in its retail stations across the country.

The NNPC Ltd also wishes to state that, in line with the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), PMS prices are not set by Government, but negotiated directly between parties on an arms length.

The NNPC Ltd can confirm that it is paying Dangote Refinery in USD for September 2024 PMS offtake, as Naira transactions will only commence on October 1st, 2024.

The NNPC Ltd assures that if the quoted pricing is disputed, it will be grateful for any discount from the Dangote Refinery, which will be passed on 100% to the general public.

Attached to this statement are the estimated pump prices of PMS (obtained from the Dangote Refinery) across NNPC Retail Stations in the country, based on September 2024 pricing.
