Diamond Anniversary: Nigeria Public Relations Honors, Patience Jonathan, Alistair Soyode, Jerry Ghana, Others

“Honors they say is given to those whom it is due.” This is well deserved, worthy of note as those distinguished individuals who have over the years shaped the narrative in different aspect of our national life got honored at the NIPR Diamond Awards.

Among the prominent Nigerians who were honored, Dr. Alistair Soyode, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BEN Television London stood out for me.

Dr. Soyode has represented Nigeria and Africa at large showcasing our notable black heritage to the world for more than two decades now.. the Diamond Awards of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The Nigeria institute of public relations was established in 1963 as the public relations association of Nigeria, in 1972, it metamorphosed into Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). In 1989, it established a National secretariat to coordinate its affairs. The institute became chartered via decree no 16 (Act of Parliament) of the Federal Government on 1st June 1990.

The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations is the professional body of all qualified Public Relations practitioners in Nigeria. It is the largest professional body for public relations in Africa.

Alistair Soyode who is the founder of the first Black Ethnic Television Station in The United Kingdom was honoured with the “Diamond Ambassador of Brand Nigeria Awards” for his meaningful and giant contributions towards promoting the Nigeria Brand in Diaspora especially in the United Kingdom where BEN Television had held sway for years, promoting Africa and Africans especially for the past two decades.

With the passion to tell Africa stories by an African from the African perspective, made BEN Television stand out from others in the Diaspora.

Other distinguished recipients are; General Yakubu Gowon, former first lady Patience Jonatha, Nasarawa State governor Abdullahi Sule, Professor Jerry Gana and many others.

Dr. Soyode, a true Nigerian and a Pan-Africanist was the Presidential Candidate of the YES Party in the 2019 general elections in Nigeria has been in the forefront of promoting Africa all over the globe.
