Former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo Is Celebrating His 85th Birthday Today
Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, chief Aremu Okikiola Matthew Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR celebrates his 85th birthday today. The elder statesman has been a unifying factor in Nigeria for many years, a true Nigerian who is detribalized.
Born March 5th, 1937, he’s a former military head of state from 1976-1979. Also, as a politician he became the first civilian President in fourth republic from 1999-2007 under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Baba as he’s popularly called is one man the Nigerian-ideology runs in his blood, he fought so many obstacles to keep Nigeria as one united entity. He brought so much transformation to the Nigerian state as a civilian President and expanded the political space.
One major achievement under ‘his watch’ was debt cancellation. We enjoyed tremendous innovations from astute managers, technocrats to businessmen and even politicians of excellence. Indeed this is a milestone in life for the elder statesman. As he goes about the business of uniting Africa, we wish him well.
