I Was Rejected, Neighbors Called Me a Bastard Because I Was Born Out Of Rape – Helen Paul

Top Nigeria female comedian now a lecturer in the United States, Dr. Helen Paul popularly known as “Tatafo” has narrated a sad but life lessons story of how she came into existence.

She narrated this ordeal while speaking at the Day Star Excellence in Leadership Conference 2023 (ELC), an annual program organized by Pastor Sam Adeyemi. Helen described how she was rejected by those who were supposed to be her aunties but sadly will call her a bastard.

She was raised by her grandmother who always drum it in her ears that she must do whatever to succeed and become somebody in life. And it got worse to the extent that each time those family members visits and will gift her grandma money, they will specifically mentioned to her that the money gift is for her upkeep and not to take care of some bastard kid. They even went as far as not allowing her bear the family surname, her surname had to come from a random man called, Mr Paul.

Helen Paul is currently a Professor in the United States, a lecturer and head in the Department of Arts, Music & Entertainment at Heart Bible International University, USA.

The story was truly thought provoking, a catalyst to many who should not look at the circumstances of their birth but to rise and succeed in the face of daunting challenges.
