Real Reason Why IGP Usman Baba Ordered The Arrest Of Afrobeat Singer, Seun Kuti

The Nigerian Police Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, reacted to the viral video which captured son of late Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti Assaulting a police officer.

In the video that emerged online on Saturday, Seun Kuti was seen fuming and pointing to the unidentified police officer before proceeding to push and slap the officer.

Reacting to the viral video, Mr Adejobi tweeted, “Seun’s Attack: The NPF will speak to this incident very soon. It’s unbelievable, but such happens for people to learn lessons. We shall be back.”

Mr Adejobi, described the sad and unwarranted incident as unbelievable, saying that definitely the police will respond appropriately to the video, ”very soon!”

Few hours later..

In a statement, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti.

According to the statement by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi titled “SERIOUS ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER: IGP CONDEMNS ACT, ORDERS IMMEDIATE ARREST OF SEUN KUTI,” “The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.”

Meanwhile, Kuti has promised to cooperate fully with the police on his planned arrest. Following the order by the IGP, Kuti wrote on his Instagram story, “I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.”

Kuti also wrote that the police, “tried to kill me and my family; have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologized and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job.” The incident reportedly occurred on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
