The famous battle is now over with Republican Donald Trump and former President winning the US presidential election in a stunning comeback, The Associated Press news agency reports, with his projected victory in Wisconsin clearing the (270)Electoral votes needed to secure a massive return to the White House.
Donald Trump secured 51.05% of the total votes which is 72,064,156 to Vice President Kamala Harris who polled 66,986,465 of the votes which is 47.45%.
Speaking in West Palm Beach, Florida, before the latest results came in, Trump pledged to bring a “golden age” to the United States, praising what he called “the greatest political movement of all time”.
The Democratic presidential candidate and Trump’s rival, Vice President Kamala Harris has not yet conceded and is expected to speak later in the day today.
World leaders and we’ll wishers rushed to congratulate Trump on Wednesday as votes were still being counted in some states after early projected wins in key battleground states.
