You Lied You Didn’t Buy Fuel From Us At 898 Naira Per Litre – Dangote Refinery to NNPCL

Fuel is one essentially air we can’t stop breathing in Nigeria, at least not for now or in the nearest future to come. Nigeria has been plagued with so many dimensions of suffering chief among them is fuel, with queues and it price rising astronomically putting the country in perpetual hardship as it were.
The Federal Government claimed to have stopped paying subsidy which many have argued that it’s far from the truth because they still pay heavily to subsidize the product. Petroleum product especially Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) which known as fuel to the understanding of all is the bedrock of Nigeria’s economy.
The untold hardship by the non-stability and availability of this product is enormous and with the coming of the Dangote refinery Nigerians breathed a sigh of relief but only for the matter to still look bleak because it’s been back and forth as to who will determine the price and all what not between Dangote Refinery and the NNPC who are supposed to be the sole buyer of the product.
The Dangote refinery started dispatching the product on Sunday 15th of September, 2024 but the matter, rather became a controversial one as the Nigerian people seem to be in a limbo as to what exactly is happening. The Dangote refinery issued a press statement to counter the narrative out there;
“PRESS STATEMENT
Our attention has been drawn to a statement attributed to NNPCL spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, that we sell our PMS at N898 per litre to the NNPCL.
This statement is both misleading and mischievous, deliberately aimed at undermining the milestone achievement recorded today, September 15, 2024, towards addressing energy insufficiency and insecurity, which has bedeviled the economy in the past 50 years.
We urge Nigerians to disregard this malicious statement and await a formal announcement on the pricing, by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, which will commence on October 1, 2024, bearing in mind that our current stock of crude was procured in dollars.
It should also be noted that we sold the products to NNPCL in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing. With this action, there will be petrol in every local government area of the country regardless of their remote nature.
We assure Nigerians of availability of quality petroleum product and putting an end to the endemic fuel scarcity in the country.
