MTV Awards: Edo Born Singer, Rema Wins 2023 Video Music Awards For Best Afrobeats
Divine Ikubor musically known as Rema is now the first Afrobeat artist, African artist whose song has crossed a Billion stream on Spotify. As if that’s not enough, even while conquering the world especially the Asian part with his song “Calm Down”, he just won the 2023 MTV Awards again for best Afrobeats video.
Teaming up with Selena Gomez gave the song a big boost which endeared many Latino fans to the dark skinned and charismatic singer from Benin city.
The singer who upon receiving the Award on stage first of all thank God almighty for the feat and then paid his respect to Baba Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who created the genre, and to those who did well and are still doing well.. the likes of; Tubaba, D’banj and Don Jazzy, Timaya, Run town, Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid.
Also, in appreciation he showered praises on Gomez and his fans world over for making it possible.
