Wizkid Sparked Controversy Worldwide As He Pronounced ‘Hip-hop Dead’
Singer, Wizkid, has reiterated his controversial views on the rap music industry.
In an interview with 10 magazine, which was published on Thursday, Wizkid said, “Afrobeats is the new pop. I sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record.
“If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore.”
“I don’t listen to rap – that sh*t is boring to me. It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”
His views had sparked reactions from rappers and other music fans.
In a fresh post on his Snapchat, the singer went on to ‘broke shame’ rappers.
He said, “Can’t believe y’all broke boys really thought Big Wiz will talk about y’all wow!
“Y’all keep sending una popsy rap videos! go dey watch maybe fit help una mama life!”
Wizkid however made an exception for some rappers. He said, “Y’all not even rappers! Nasty C, Sarkodie and Black Sheriff the only rappers in Africa.”
