Peter Obi Celebrates Prof. Saheed Aderinto For Winning $300,000 Dan David Prize

Labour Party’s Presidential candidate and man of the moment, Peter Gregory Obi in a thread on Twitter celebrated a special Nigerian who has done Nigeria the most populous black nation on earth proud by winning (the largest history price in the world).

Peter Obi lauds Prof. Saheed Aderinto for his recent achievement in the world. In his remark;

“Today, I celebrate and felicitate with our Nigerian born Prof Saheed Aderinto, a Professor of History and African Diaspora Studies at Florida International University, who recently won the $300,000 Dan David Prizeā€”the largest history prize in the world.”

“Prof Aderinto is the First and only Nigerian to have been awarded such prestigious prize in recognition of his outstanding scholarship in the very important field of history.”

“Beyond his financial reward, I am particularly thrilled by the achievements of intellectual giants like him who place Nigeria on the global map. As a firm promoter of education for societal development,

Prof. Saheed’s Biography

Aderinto was born in Ibadan (Nigeria) on January 22, 1979. He completed his elementary school education at Adeen International School in 1990 and secondary school at Ibadan City Academy in 1996. He then went on to earn a BA in History from the University of Ibadan in 2004. Aderinto moved to the United States in 2005 to study at the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his MA and PhD in 2007 and 2010, respectively. In Fall of 2010, he started his teaching career at Western Carolina University, Cullowhee NC. In Fall 2022, Aderinto started a new position as Professor of History and African and African Diaspora Studies at Florida International University.
