Former Super Eagle’s Striker Osaze Odemwingie Is The Only 9ja Player To Achieve This

Peter Osaze Odemwingie is the only Nigerian player to win the Premier League Player of the Month award three times (September 2010, April 2011 and February 2012)- all at West Brom, where he scored 30 Premier League goals.

At international level, he made 63 appearances for Nigeria and scored 10 goals. He played in four AFCON tournaments and two World Cup tournaments. He scored his first international goal against Angola in a 2004 AFCON qualifier match, and went on to score two stunning goals against South Africa in the tournament proper.

In 2014, Odemwingie scored the only goal of the game as Nigeria defeated Bosnia 1-0, handing the Super Eagles their first world cup win since the 1998 edition.

Besides West Brom, he played for clubs like Bendel Insurance (where he started his career), La Louviere, Lille, Lokomotiv Moscow and Stoke City. He last played for Indonesian club Madura United and then retired in 2018.
