What was Peseiro thinking? How can Alex Iwobi played 90mimutes in the match when he stagnated the midfield in that game against Equatorial Guinea. The flow wasn’t smooth and that led to the pile up pressure on Yusuf Alhassan who just debuted for the Super Eagles and had a super performance nevertheless.
The team started well but at some point they lost concentration and the connection was not there anymore which many expected that Peseiro would have done something earlier enough to prevent what eventually happened.
The exit of Alhassan Yusuf showed that all along the team was carried by him because once your midfield is good the play will also be good, Yusuf was left with the dirty jobs, stabilizing the team and at the same time to distribute the ball in which Alex Iwobi was found wanting.. Yusuf ran box to box, this clearly indicates that the man handling our affairs couldn’t see the danger of wearing him out.
Going into the next game, Peseiro must show us that he knows what he’s doing because why will Ahmed Musa be left on the bench when his experience is what is required now? Somebody needs to control the game, dictate the progression psychologically and otherwise. The Super Eagles is known for always showing class even when the chips are down there will always be a rallying point.
